Murrysville Lions Club

Teen Age Golf League

What is TAG?

The Teenage Golf League is run by the Murrysville Lions Club and Meadowink Golf Course. The league is open to boys and girls age 13 through 18. The purpose is to provide an avenue for players to be introduced to competitive golf as well as to have fun. Previous golf experience is recommended.

When is TAG?

The program runs for six Monday mornings during June and July. The dates are as follows:

  • June 13, 20, 27
  • July 11, 18, 25
  • No Tag League on Monday, July 4th

TAG Registration

TAG sign-ups will be held on Sunday, June 5, 2016 at Meadowink Golf Course, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. No advance sign-ups!

Registration Fee: $90.00

You will be asked to choose a tee time when you register. This will be your tee time for the entire season. If you wish to play with a friend, you must both sign up at the same time. There are a limited number of spots available per tee time, so once a particular time has been filled, you must choose another time.

Golf Rules

Strict rules of golf apply, except no loss of distance on out of bounds. Other adjustments to rules are at the discretion of the Lions Chairman or Meadowink Staff.

The Qualifying Round

The Qualifying Round takes place the first week of play. It is important that all players turn in their score on or before June 13, 2016. This score is used to assign each player to a flight, which he or she will then compete in the rest of the season. This allows competition against people with similar scores. If you cannot play on this day, you may "golf off" before that day on either Saturday, June 11 or Sunday, June 12 after 3:00 PM. Call the Pro Shop at (724) 327 - 8243 for a tee time. There will be no other "golf offs" this year.

The Championship Flight

First year players are not eligible for the Championship Flights. Assignments to the two Championship Flights are determined by averaging the highest and lowest score carried over from the previous year and the score from the Qualifying Round.

Match Play

The format is match play. In match play, the golfer is awarded one point for each winning hole. The total number of points accumulated determines the winner of the round rather than the total golf score.

The TAG Shotgun

On the final Monday of the TAG League, July 25, 2016, all participants will be eligible to play in the TAG Shotgun Tournament. This means everyone starts and finishes at the same time. All players will report at 7:15 AM and be escorted to their assigned starting hole. When finished, there will be lunch and a putting contest. Trophies will be awarded for the winners of each flight. The winners of the two Championship Flights will participate in a 9-hole play-off following the final TAG day to determine the League Champion.
  • You must sign up ahead of time if you will be participating in the Shotgun Tournament.
  • Choose the group you want to play with ahead of time, and sign up early.
  • You will be able to sign up for the shotgun starting on July 11, 2016 before your tee-off time.
